I won first place in the Tucson Fashion Week Design Competition!
We were told to take inspiration from the artchitect Nathan Colkitt's store he designed for #Puma. Naturally, I made my dress out of upcycled Puma and athletic Tshirts that I found at local thrift stores. I also took inspiration from the textured red block wall in the store and interpreted it into a woven strip feature on the front of the dress. The silhouette I created was a little different from the usual frilly, ballgowns that I make because I wanted it to be something more sporty that an athlete would actually wear. Finished my design contest submission for #TucsonFashionWeek. We were told to take inspiration from architect Nathan Colkitt's design for the #puma stores. My dress is made of #upcycledtshirts with logos like Puma, architect, athletic, shoe screen prints that I found at local thrift stores in colors that match the Puma Store's decor. It has structural details like princess seams for shaping and boning and interfacing for structure. It is also lined with T-shirts and sewn with serger/overclock and coverstitch seams for stretch. The front bodice is strips of t-shirts sewn into tubes and reinforced with interfacing inside for structure and then woven to create a similar look to the red box design wall in the puma store.
